Welcome!

I’m thrilled to finally launch Less with Liz, a blog that aims to detail my personal experiences and tips to live a more minimal, sustainable, and low waste lifestyle. I hope to provide helpful resources and reassurance to anyone interested in starting or maintaining this type of lifestyle for themselves.

I don’t want this blog to be a place where you feel intimidated by habitual changes or turned off by DIY projects gone awry. I want to be real, to show that I make mistakes all the time in my own journey and that’s okay! We are all human and we all have to start somewhere.

The best place to start in order to make a change in your life is by finding your “why”. For some of you, it might be conserving our planet for your children or your grandchildren. Maybe you would like to save money by not buying a bunch of new things, or you’re trying to simplify your life and focus on experiences more than material things.

My “why” started as species conservation and has developed into so much more. Ultimately, I want to leave this earth knowing that whatever I did to pollute it, I worked even harder to clean it up. Part of this goal is showing everyone that if they pay a bit more attention to their waste and to their habits, they can find ways to reduce their impact too.

While I don’t intend to keep a year’s worth of trash in a small jar, I look to the principles and ideas behind the Zero Waste movement for inspiration in my own life. Without a circular economy, I don’t believe many of us will reach that level of perfection when it comes to waste, but I do think that anyone can make small changes in their daily lives to encourage such a movement.

There are many ways to live more sustainably and to reduce your carbon footprint, however,  waste is a very tangible environmental issue and is something I intend to focus on in many of my posts. I've got a hard science background and love researching these topics, so you might get some overly informative articles from me too :)

With that being said, I’m so excited to get started and to share my experiences with all of you!
